Enrichment Activities

For MSM Students

Recitals

School-wide recitals are held twice a year, typically in December and June. Dress your best and come perform your favorite pieces for family and friends! A round of post-recital refreshments usually round out a fun afternoon that everyone enjoys!

Music Hangouts

Come play what you want or just listen to your peers. Make some friends, get positive feedback, and help build our musical community! All instruments and levels are welcome. Hangouts are organized by age-groups (kids/teens/adults).

Music in the Community (MIC)

Bring your friends and family out into the community to hear you play in public! Past venues have been the front lawn at Dickinson House as well as Orchard View on the Rideau. Look for future dates and performance locations in our Announcements.

Performance Class

Perform your best pieces in small group settings, receive performance pointers and hear your peers.

Festival and Exam Class

For those performing in the Kiwanis Festival and/or taking Royal Conservatory Examinations.
If you are interested in playing in the Kiwanis Music Festival, Ottawa West Junior Music Club, or taking a Royal Conservatory exam, please notify your teacher as soon as possible as these opportunities have early deadlines.

Challenge Contests

Students are motivated to improve their skills by striving to reach practice goals worth a certain number of points. Students who collect the most points in each teacher’s studio win a prize from the school!

Challenges range from staying focused (for younger students), to playing a piece with your eyes closed (for all levels), to playing a piece with perfect rhythm at a very slow tempo (for more advanced students)!
